Overview

The Environment Technician role is an assistant role to the Environmental Manager at Dublin. This role will also involve assisting the Operations team with various plant operational monitoring requirements. The role will require a thorough understanding of all relevant Energy from Waste environmental legislation and regulation.

Responsibilities

Operational

 

  • Support the production and submission of all Environment Management reports detailed in the Environment Permit to include pre-operational and improvement conditions, annual and quarterly emission reports, pollution inventory and waste returns.
  • Support ensuring compliance with EN 14181: 2014 Stationary Source Emissions, quality assurance of automated Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS).
  • Ensuring fully compliant methodology employed during stack testing in line with EU and EPA AG Guidance documents.
  • Ensure IBA, APCr, groundwater, soil, odour, noise monitoring and sampling compliance to all relevant standards and guidance at local sites.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of an Environmental Management System (EMS) and manage the ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certification processes and ongoing surveillance audits.
  • Support and maintain all local environment and energy management reporting
  • Work closely with the Operations teams to ensure the facility operates within the Environment License conditions and all other relevant environment legislation and guidance.
  • Work closely with the I&E and Maintenance teams to ensure the CEMS equipment are appropriately serviced and maintained. Familiar with QAL1, QAL2, QAL 3 and annual surveillance testing (AST) are conducted in line with Encyclis procedures.
  • Support the reporting of environmental incident investigations, including Environment Permit breaches to ensure effective root cause analysis identifies suitable corrective actions to be managed within agreed timeframes.
  • Support the facility environment performance improvement and sustainability processes, with the management of corrective actions, defect and rectification activities.

Qualifications

The preferred level of education is to a degree standard in a related Environment or Science subject. Desirable: Relevant Waste Management or Environmental Management qualifications with energy recovery or large process plant experience (not essential but will greatly assist) will be considered for this role. 

 

  • EXPERIENCE: 

     

    • This role requires a broad background in environmental management and regulatory compliance.
    • Experience of the managing Environmental License or Waste Legislation compliance.
    • Essential experience of working and managing CEMS equipment.
    • Experience of submitting incidents and reports to the Environmental Protection Agency
    • Experience in accident incident and near miss reporting.
    • Developing, implementing and management of a site Environmental Management System.

     

    SPECIFIC SKILLS: 

     

    • Thorough understanding of all relevant environmental legislation and regulation.
    • Excellent English in terms of written and verbal communication.
    • High levels of IT literacy with a strong background in Excel spreadsheets.
    • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general and technical documentation.
    • The ability to understand graphs, networks, drawings and diagrams.
