Where you will be working

 

Encyclis Dublin Waste to Energy Facility is located in Dublin 4, on the Poolbeg peninsula.

This fantastic facility has been fully operational since 2017, diverting over 600,000 tonnes of residual waste from landfill every year and providing enough baseload electricity to power over 100,000 homes.

We are proud to generate electricity for Dublin from non-recyclable waste generated in the city and surrounding areas, and we have a track record of high safety and environmental standards.

 

We are seeking Operators with a desire to work in the power industry. Our operators are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of boiler auxiliaries, the turbine generator, fans, pumps, ash handling conveyors, scrubbers, bag houses, lime slakers, water treatment systems, waste and ash cranes, and other equipment.

We are based in an industrial site in Poolbeg's docks area, and the work entails wearing protective equipment and working outside.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

SUMMARY

 

Working under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor and/or Maintenance Leads, the individual will be responsible for general labour duties including ash handling, consumable unloading, cleaning, painting, preventative maintenance, operation of mobile equipment, support all day to day maintenance activities and outage activities.

      

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform or assist preventative maintenance as assigned on plant equipment.
  • Perform routine housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • Operate ash and waste cranes.
  • Work alongside all members of the maintenance team to support all planned and breakdown activities.
  • Support all outage maintenance activities.
  • Assist operation and maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Shift Supervisor and/or the Maintenance Lead.

 

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Leaving Certificate. Previous experience in the operation of heavy industrial machinery or demonstrated mechanical or electrical aptitude. 
  • Formal technical or apprentice training is desirable, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Exceptional candidates without the above educational requirements, will also be considered.

Language Skills:

  • Good English (verbal and written communication skills)
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret procedures and policies, technical procedures, operating and maintenance Instructions.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to take appropriate safe action on his/her own initiative to prevent equipment damage or injury to personnel during emergencies or unusual situations.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed including nights, weekends, and holidays with minimum notice.
