Where you will be working

 

Encyclis Protos Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) is located within the Protos energy and resource hub, near Ellesmere Port in Cheshire.

Currently under construction, when complete, this impressive two-line facility will have the capacity to divert up to 500,000 tonnes of residual waste away from landfill every year, generating sustainable electricity for up to 90,000 homes.

Responsibilities

The Opportunity

 

Reporting directly to the EC&I Maintenance Supervisor, the EC&I Maintenance Technician will carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance activities safely, efficiently and in line with Encyclis procedures, whilst ensuring the facility is operationally compliant with the environmental permit. The EC&I Maintenance Technician is responsible for delivering the engineering health, integrity, performance and commercial availability of the plant in a safe and efficient manner whilst complying with all legislation, regulations and policies.

 

The EC&I Maintenance Technician is also responsible for the Health and Safety of all site staff, contractors and visitors under their supervision at Protos Energy Recovery Facility (ERF).           

                                                                          

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The EC&l Technician will be responsible for planned, preventative and reactive maintenance for Electrical assets and Control systems within the boundary of the ERF.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair of all Electrical Equipment and Infrastructure at the facility, within their own competence levels.
  • Promote and support the delivery of Encyclis’s Safety Rules and Safe Systems of Work, whilst working in accordance with all Approved Codes of Practice, Senior Management Instructions and Local Management Instructions (ACOP’s, SMI’s & LMI’s) to ensure we are setting people to work in a safe manner.
  • Reporting of any Health, Safety and Environmental unsafe conditions, accidents or incidents and supporting investigations as required.
  • Carry out hands on proactive and reactive maintenance activities in accordance with prescribed quality systems, procedures, risk assessments and OEM recommendations.
  • This role requires a flexible approach to ensure that critical work is achieved in a timely manner, with safety and quality being paramount.
  • Assist with the review of OEM manuals and creation of maintenance documentation for plant equipment including, maintenance strategies, safe working procedures and technical specifications.
  • Work with the maintenance team to develop the site Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) ensuring work is prioritised and executed efficiently to avoid overdue tasks.
  • Contribute towards the planning and execution of outage work scopes and maintenance management systems.
  • Understand the site Management of Change process to ensure that all plant modifications are captured.
  • There is a requirement for the EC&I Maintenance Technician to be part of the maintenance duty call out rota with the other Maintenance Technicians.
  • Ensure all tasks and projects are performed in accordance with work scopes and specification, whilst adhering with safe systems of work.
  • Fully conversant with maintenance processes and techniques with the ability to assist with the planning, coordination and execution of planned outages.
  • Support the development and implementation of short-term and long-term maintenance strategies in line with industry best practices and technical procedures.
  • Support the development and management of the spares inventory and workshop.
  • Support EC&I improvement processes, management of corrective actions, defect notifications and rectification, as well as contributing towards effective Root Cause Analysis (RCA) into major defects.
  • Take ownership of plant cleanliness and ensure excellent standards of housekeeping are maintained.
  • Promote and engage with the site H&S performance to include safety inspections, plant area responsibilities and partake in routine H&S meetings and forums.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to deliver facility Key Performance Indicators.

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

 

  • The preferred level of education is to a recognised Electrical/Instrument apprenticeship, although other relevant Electrical qualifications and experience with energy recovery or large process plant will be considered for the role.
  • This role requires an Electrical Control and Instrumentation background in ERF, plant or process maintenance with outage/major shutdown experience.
  • The EC&I Maintenance Technician will be responsible for providing suitable supervision of contractors. Including review and approval of risk assessments and method statements, quality of workmanship and work reports.
  • Technical knowledge and experience of Switchgear, Control gear, Process Instrumentation, Motors, Variable Speed Drives, DCS and SCADA. 
  • Preferably a minimum of five years’ experience with a practical Electrical/Instrumentation background. 
  • Experience in working within a team to deliver against agreed key performance indicators (KPI’s).
  • Working knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and file sharing methodology systems. 
  • Experience of supervising contractors and work packages. 
  • Working knowledge of current UK H&S Legislation. 
  • Demonstrates commitment to continuous improvement. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication, specifically to include the accurate recording of detailed maintenance reports. 
  • Ability to read, analyse and interpret general, technical and Electrical procedures and documentation. The ability to understand P&IDs, schematics, technical drawings and diagrams.
  • Ability to draft reports and present technical information to the further maintenance and operations team. 
  • Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general, technical procedures and documentation.
  • A safety qualification would be an advantage, either IOSH or NEEBOSH.
