Role description

 

As an FP&A specialist, you will report to the Finance Director with responsibility for one of our best performing plants in the Midlands.

Your responsibilities will include providing financial insights and projections to the accounting team. You will provide reliable data and analysis to be used in decision-making and planning, and in addition, you will prepare accurate monthly financial reports, assist in the preparation of presentations that provide thoughtful analysis, identify action items, and effectively frame decisions that need to be made.

 

This position, reporting to the Finance Director, will be responsible for assisting in preparing the monthly forecast, annual budgets, long term plans and variance analysis of actuals against the budgets/plans.

 

Assist in preparation of periodic reporting to external parties (Joint Venture partner, Banks/Lenders etc) and understand and update financial models as needed. As a result of acquisition by a private equity, a key task will be to add value to the business by assisting in data requests from our Private Equity owners as they analyse and invest in the business.

 

The FP&A function acts as the analytical engine of the company to provide insights and to support optimal business decision making.

 

The position demands self-starter who has a drive to be detail orientated, data savvy and an ability to provide a holistic view of the business from a finance and operational point of view across JV and non-JV lines.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities: 

 

As a key point of contact for data requests from Private equity firm (PE). Be responsible for collating any data requests from the PE responsibilities include;

  • Analyze current and past trends and variance analysis on key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses and capital expenditures.
  • Support and analyze monthly financials in tandem with the Financial Controllers to complete the month-end accounting close with focus on the plant operations.
  • Understand the operational model of the business and assist with the forecasting process
  • Assist in developing accurate and timely monthly forecasts, long term plans once/twice a year and annual budgets.
  • Periodic reporting (monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, annually) to external parties mentioned above.
  • Understanding bank/project financial models and keeping them updated.
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Prepare annual reports for regulatory compliance, banks and clients.
  • Interact with auditors and assist with the preparation and documentation to support both internal and external audits.
  • Ad hoc projects/reporting as required.

 

Qualifications

Position Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related technical discipline. 
  • Minimum of 2+ years of relevant FP&A experience
  • Qualified accountant with strong experience in FP&A roles
  • Experience of handling large sets of data.
  • Demonstrable experience of meeting challenging deadlines for data reports.
  • Technology: Microsoft Dynamics 365 ‘Finance and Operations’ module or similar ERP experience. Strong skills in Excel (Vlookup, SUMIF, Macros and VBA) and PowerPoint. 
  • Oracle Smartview and Power BI experience is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven track record of being able to work independently
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with attention to detail and accuracy
