Where you will be working

 

Encyclis Dublin Waste to Energy Facility is located in Dublin 4, on the Poolbeg peninsula.

This fantastic facility has been fully operational since 2017, diverting over 600,000 tonnes of residual waste from landfill every year and providing enough baseload electricity to power over 100,000 homes.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

To provide support to the Dublin ERF Operations team ensuring the success of Plant Operations to support the Day Supervisor in compliance and consistency across site.

 

Working under the direction of the Day Team Supervisor the Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the front-end loaders and all other plant mobile equipment as assigned.

 

Equipment Operators are responsible for maintaining their work area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner and comply with all safety and operational policies and procedures.

 

Duties include the following:  

  • The safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all plant mobile equipment.
  • Support efficient tipping operations by policing the floor, controlling traffic and inspecting for
  • unacceptable waste.
  • Monitoring of the waste bunker for incipient fires.
  • Perform actions as directed to correct abnormal operating conditions or emergency situations.
  • This position may require working overtime, and incidental or prolonged hours, resulting from unusual
  • operating conditions or major overhauls.
  • Following Health & Safety procedures
  • Accurate completion of all paperwork in accordance with operating procedures
  • Loading and unloading trucks ·
  • Routine visual waste inspections, housekeeping, reporting any non-conforming deliveries
  • Off-loading containers using a forklift
  • Operation of mobile equipment, including skid steer loader, font-end loader, and forklift
  • Perform and document weekly and monthly PM’s
  • Performing inspections and greasing of equipment to identify and report equipment malfunctions
  • Cleaning waste spillage
  • Cleaning waste spillages
  •  Maintaining work areas in a clean, orderly, and safe manner
  • Assisting other operating personnel as necessary to support plant operations
  • Ability to work overtime if required
  • Waste crane operations including detection and removal of any non-conforming waste, fire protection systems, waste hopper feeding and co-ordination with the shift operations team.
  • Tipping hall operations including traffic management, safe operation and monitoring of exclusion zones and tipping points. Routine visual waste inspections, housekeeping, reporting any non-conforming deliveries.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Leaving Certificate -   Previous experience in the operation of front-end loaders and other mobile equipment.  Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools.  Formal technical or apprentice training is desirable, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, technical procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and other procedure manuals.  Ability to speak and communicate clearly and effectively with supervisors and other employees of the organization. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: CSCS card for Loader/Forklift/MEWP would be advantageous. 

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to take appropriate safe action on his/her own initiative to prevent equipment damage or injury to personnel during emergencies or unusual situations.
