Our state-of-the-art facilities take residual waste that would otherwise be landfilled which is processed into sustainable baseload electricity, heat and other practical resources to accelerate the circular economy of the future.
Construction on our Walsall site is progressing well and the site will join our sites in 2026 that include Rookery, Newhurst and Protos. Together these plants will provide us with a strong operational presence in the Midlands to the North-West of England and will offer opportunities to deliver operational synergies across the fleet.
Key Responsibilities include:
The Plant Manager (PM), will be the outward facing ambassador and will drive the performance of our new Energy for Waste, (EFW), facility, at Walsall in the West Midlands. This PM position has overall responsibility for the operation of the plant and will lead the plant and team from commissioning through to live operations. He/ she will provide exceptional leadership, and guide, empower and collaborate with operating teams, stakeholders and suppliers to ensure that the plant meets the agreed performance, environmental and health and safety standards. The plant is being developed within an existing local community and an important part of the role will be in the building and maintaining of these new relationships. Specifically;
Implement and improve upon the 'One Encyclis' initiative which aims to ensure consistency of standards and share ideas across the fleet and;.
o Deliver the agreed annual plant production and KPI targets, whilst working safely.
o Ensure consistent and integrated approach to the operation and maintenance of the plant through effective planning, excellent communication and sharing of information and processes, development of contingency plans and follow through on effective execution of plans.
o Oversee plant production and equipment availability, collaborating with staff to identify operating deficiencies and coordinate with Corporate and Regional teams to develop and implement effective operating plans.
o Ensure accuracy and consistency of reporting metrics (e.g., production, operating statistics, staffing costs and other operating expenses) and use the data to improve performance.
o Oversee day to day maintenance activities to drive plant maintenance improvements (process, system utilisation, execution and quality)
o Ensure Outage planning and execution is being managed, oversee preventative maintenance and reliability programs and oversee the site Long-Term Maintenance plan (LTMP).
o Communicate, implement, and maintain “best practices” and procedures to drive the definition and utilisation of common KPIs to measure operating performance and improve effectiveness.
o Act as a mentor to less experienced operations personnel, being responsive to requests for help and explanations of operations and technical risk.
o Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and ethical standards related to Operations and Maintenance.
o Lead Operational Excellence efforts creating a high performance culture
Technical Degree / Diploma / Certificate.
An undergraduate degree in engineering or another technical degree is considered an advantage.
